Using
Stories in the Professions
Top
Using Stories in the Professions is
a series of highly innovative, round-table discussions
that use literary works to illuminate the complex social
and moral issues that professionals face in their public
and private lives.
Unlike
formal courses or lectures in literature, these seminars,
led by an experienced facilitator, invite participants
to share experiences about work and daily practice in
a congenial, engaging atmosphere.
The
topics are current, practical, and vitally important
in the social, legal, economic and cultural context
of professional practice and contemporary society. We
currently offer programs for the legal, medical, municipal
government and philanthropic communities.

Book Voyagers family reading programs
Top
Book Voyagers is a CHC-funded children's reading program
that introduces school-age children to award-winning
literature, shows them how to find and understand the
underlying themes in books and helps them develop a
life-long love for reading. Programs are age appropriate
and many are designed for family participation. The
program offers a number of formats, some designed for
a child and a parent or caregiver; some specifically
for mothers and daughters, fathers and sons or children
and grandparents while some are for children alone.
Regardless of the format, each program promotes thoughtful
discussion about important topics between adults and
children. Click

Literature
for a Lifetime
Top
For more than a decade, the CHC has offered adults throughout
the state an opportunity to come together to discuss
great books, share ideas and opinions and explore the
many relationships between life and literature. We created
the program because books can have a powerful impact
on our lives—opening doors to new ideas, affirming
our own life experiences, helping us better understand
the world around us.
