$1,500 to Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center (Milford) for Getting Around in the Central Connecticut Valley

The Center received $1,500 to conduct a public lecture series on the evolution of transportation.

 

$27,740 to Connecticut League of History Organizations (Fairfield) for Serving the State, Year 2: Professional, Technical, and Educational Support from the Connecticut League of History Organizations.

The Connecticut League of History Organizations (CLHO) received $27,740 in CHDF Professional Development support to organize and host a 5-part series of technical assistance workshops for members as well as related articles in the CLHO's professional publication. In addition, the grant provides honoraria for speakers at the CLHO's annual conference, which will focus on improving the quality of interpretation and public service at the state's historic sites.

 

$5,000.00 to Hartford Public Library (Hartford) for Hog River Journal.

The Hartford Public Library was awarded $5,000 from the CHDF to hire a freelance editor for four issues (one year of publication) of Hog River Journal, a magazine of Hartford-area history.

 

$2,500.00 to Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich (Cos Cob) for Bush-Holley House Seasonal Interpretation and Event.

The Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich (HSTG) received $2,500 in CHDF support to implement seasonal changes to the interpretation of the Bush-Holley House in Cos Cob.

 

$20,000.00 to Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich (Cos Cob) for    Architectural History of Greenwich.

The Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich was awarded $20,000 in CHDF support to plan a multifaceted project to document and interpret Greenwich history through its architecture. The project will eventually include exhibitions, public programs and a research website.

 

$2,500.00 to Institute for Community Research (Hartford) for Training for Community Cultural Resource Development.

The Institute received $2,500 in CHDF support to plan and implement a series of programs to make its collected documentation and resources more availale to members of the communities represented in the archives, as well as to general audiences and scholars interested in the state's cultural heritage, diversity, and community relations.

 

$25,000.00 to Litchfield Historical Society (Litchfield) for Litchfield Historical Society Digitization and Web Site Planning.

The Litchfield Historical Society in conjunction with Fordham University received $25,000 in CHDF support to begin research and planning for a web site chronicling life in the early American Republic. The website will provide public access to an array of primary documents relating to early American government, many from the society's extensive archives.

 

$17,749.00 to Lyman Allyn Art Museum (New London) for American Artists Abroad and Their Inspiration.

The Lyman Allyn Art Museum (LAAM) in New London was awarded $17,749 in CHDF Implementation support to install an exhibition based on little-seen artworks from the museum's permanent collection that explores the work produced by American artists working in Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth century.

 

$5,000.00 to Mystic Seaport Museum (Mystic) for The History of African American Mariners.

Mystic Seaport received a $5,000 CHDF grant to complete the planning of a comprehensive exhibit on the history of African American mariners.

 

$29,900.00 to New London Maritime Society (New London) for Thames River Maritime Heritage Celebration 2004.

The Customs House Maritime Museum, on behalf of over twenty cultural organizations in New London/Groton/Norwich, was awarded a second year grant of $29,900 to host eight months of programming throughout the region that promotes the maritime heritage of the Thames River.

 

$5,000.00 to Noah Webster Foundation (West Hartford) for Oral History Project - Voices of West Hartford: 1954-2004.

The Noah Webster House received $5,000 from the Cultural Heritage Development Fund to collect historically-significant stories from community members as part of its West Hartford oral history project.

 

$4,500.00 to Save Our Stepney Task Force (Monroe) for Stepney Heritage Trail.

Save Our Stepney Task Force, a grassroots preservation/education organization received $4,500 to research, design and create markers to identify historic structures along the Stepney Heritage Trail in the Stepney section of Monroe.
