| The
Connecticut Humanities Council
created this comprehensive directory of the state’s history
resources for teachers, students, researchers and others who want
to better understand the world around them through the stories of
our past.
First
on line in 1999, the Gateway
has grown to include information on over 200 cultural organizations
throughout the state…their historical specialties, location
and contact information. The activities
calendar lists 100 or more heritage activities each
month while the cultural resources
for teacher’s section offers over 100 lesson
plans, onsite student programs and professional development opportunities.
The Laptop Encyclopedia
of Connecticut History, the first online resource of
its kind in the state, features hundreds of articles on Connecticut
people, places and historical events.
The
Heritage Gateway's companion site, Connecticut's
Cultural Gateway , features complete schedules of our
many reading programs along with other activities for avid readers.
Connecticut’s Heritage Gateway was made possible
by generous grants from the Southern
New England Telecommunications Company and the National
Endowment for the Humanities.
